David Goldman Reunited with Son from Brazil: Similar to Elian Gonzalez

For the last year, I have watched the story of David Goldman’s attempt to get his son, Sean Goldman, back from his ex-wife’s relatives in brazil. Sean was abducted by his mother 5 years ago to her native Brazil. She remarried and died in child-birth. According to international treaty, Sean should have had no problem being returned to his biological father in New Jersey. Instead, years of diplomacy and court proceedings have held up the reunion of father and son. On Christmas Eve, Sean was finally returned to his father’s care and will now undergo a hard process of adjusting to his new life. A happy ending to a long story.
Of course, as we look at this story, the good guys and bad guys are clear. David Goldman’s son was stolen away by his evil mother. After she died, the Brazilian government (evil) and Sean’s Brazilian family (evil), prevented Sean from living with his father(good). That’s how I see it. Suddenly, my memory was taken back 10 years to young Cuban, Elian Gonzalez. The case of Elian captured the whole nation. The similarities between Elian and Sean are striking. In both cases, the mother took the child away to another country while the father was left behind, the mothers perish, and the new country and family want to prevent the child from being reunited. Back then, the father and Cuba were the enemies, while the family in Florida were the good guys. So I ask myself, why have I switched sides in the same argument. My gut instinct is to say that it is better for a child to be with their mother or father, regardless of the country. What I allowed to happen in the case of the Elian Gonzalez was to convince myself that it would be so much better to live in the United States because of all we have to offer than for a child to grow up with their biological parents. And since the Clinton administration also assisted in removing the child from his Florida home, I sided against this decision.
The lesson I feel I have learned is that as I have gotten older is that I look at things in a less partisan way. Republicans aren’t always good and Democrats aren’t always bad(I have to assume on this one). I can take in a set of variables and way it against my principles instead of those of a party.
Just as a fun exercise, where did you stand on the Elian Gonzalez story and where do you stand on the Sean Goldman story. How are they similar and how are they different.

Movie Monday: The Box

The movie had a good premise, and that is often enough to sucker me in, which was the case for "The Box". The premise of the movie is that a mysterious character with a horrible deformity to his face delivers a box to a couple. The box contains a button that allows the couple access to 1 million dollars. That money comes with a catch. The catch is that if the button is pressed, somebody in the world will die. The figure promises that it is not a person the couple knows. It is obvious that the button is pushed or else there wouldn't be a movie. It turns out the ominous figure is some sort of emmissary from some place unexplained that is using NASA and NSA facilities to control people as it conducts experiments on human character. Everything else goes unexplained. I ask myself why should the film spend time developing the background only to let it fall off the face of the screen. To summarize the whole movie, family chooses to press button to get a million dollars, a person dies, and the family learns the large cost involved in making such a choice as they never even spend any of the money. Money doesn't grow on trees and you can't get it from just pressing a button.

Love and Logic for Republicans

I often marvel at how the opposition can have their principles subordinated so easily in the name of bipartisanship. Why is it that Republicans, including conservatives, will fall all over themselves to try to not appear to be partisan. Quite simply, it is because the Democrats are controlling the policy arguments. It isn’t about whether or not man is causing global warming, it is about what the solution should be. It isn’t about whether or not government should offer stimulus, it is about how much it should be. It isn’t about whether the government has a role in providing healthcare, it is about how large a role it should have. It isn’t about whether or not things are really crisis’; rather, it is about how large of a crisis it will be. I know the tactic well. It is taught to parents through a method called “Love and Logic”. Love and Logic is a clever way of making children think your idea is actually theirs.
For example: suppose you want to put your kid to bed. They never want to go to bed because they are kids. The average parent will find their kids and tell them it is time for bed. The ensuing portion of the evening is about getting them to comply with something they don’t agree with. Now if a parent applies love and logic to the same situation, the parent would ask their kids if they want to go to bed now or in 5 minutes. Most kids will choose to have the extra five minutes. Following those 5 minutes, the children, in theory, will then go to bed because they are complying with a choice they made within the parameters set by the parent. It is a win-win scenario. In the same way, Democrats have crafted the arguments of our day. As framed by the Democrats, it is a fact that man is causing global warming just as it is a fact that one must go to bed. The Democrats then give the Republicans the option of how they want to curb their emissions or how much of a federal healthcare package there should be.
I could see the same thing being employed in Nazi Germany. Suppose the republicans are supporters of Jews. Hitler says to them that Germany can either gas them or shoot them. Gassing will save time and money, so the Republicans sign on to that solution rather than fighting Hitler on the principle. When will conservatives and Republicans stop acting like children and stop letting Democrats parent them. When will we control the debate before history shows us a complacent in our own demise.

Over a year ago, and even before that, I offered my insight into the Netflix Instant View option. My last assessment was one of optimism as Netflix announced a deal with STARZ to expand their library. I thought that would be the first of several distributors to follow. I WAS WRONG. One year later and the library is crap. Every week, I check the new movies to see what is new. At first with the STARZ play, there were a few options. As the year has gone on, the Instant View Library has grown substantially. The problem is that it has grown with a lack of any decent movie within the last 5 years. It is mostly dominated with indie-flicks, special interest, and bad oldies.
Having children, I would like to use this service to access quality children's programming. Unfortunately, for all of the children's shows and movies made, the selection is terrible. When you consider the absolutely free service of HULU.COM, you must not account for the instant view when assessing the value of Netflix. I have been able to find more movies of value on a website that only lists 36 movies than I have on netflix.
I don't blame netflix. Studios are rebelling against this new medium. I believe the demand is there or there wouldn't be so many illegal sites. They need to come to grips with the internet just as music has.

Obama's Most Outrageous Comments

On the eve of the passage of the largest government program since FDR, President Obama has the nerve to say in a preaching fashion "We can no longer engage in deficit spending as if there are no consequences.......we can't spend like it's monopoly money". I have never come so close to using profanity in my blog, but you have to fing kidding me here. This President has spent more than any administration in history, and he isn't even completely done with his first term. What do you expect from this man. The boldness of his statement merely reflects the lack of real journalism to call him out. "Excuse me Mr. President. In recent remarks, you stated that deficit spending has consequences. Can you tell us what the consequences of your record breaking spending will be? Will is be just the total collapse of the US economy or will our freedom be lost as well?" Is there no end to this man's ego.
I would like to mention some of the other outrageous statements made by Obama in the past and recently. These are in no order, except number 1.

1. I don't want my child to be burdened with a baby.
2. Debt could cause a recession.
3. The recession is over (today it comes out that 3rd quarter growth is less than reported).
4. I saved ____ jobs (you fill in the blank with the number of jobs because it is all BS anyway)
5. Iran has one year to comply with the UN (even Iran laughed)
6. The US is the largest Muslim nation in the world.
7. I would like to introduce my vice presidential pick, Joe Biden.
8. My healthcare bill will save money.
9. The public option will increase competition.
10.I don't want to own a car company.
11.I didn't listen to Jeremiah Wright for the 20 years I went to his "church"
12.I did not have sexual relations with that woman(whoops, wrong president)
14.I accept this Nobel peace prize.
15.I give myself a B+.
16.My healthcare package will not cover illegals.
17.I will not have any lobbyist in my cabinet.
18.I will bring a new transparency to Washington.
19.There will be debate on CSPAN for my health bill.
20.HOPE and CHANGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

The Cost of An Abortion?

What is the price of an Abortion. According to Senator Ben Nelson of Nebraska, the cost of abortion is having his state exempt from the Medicaid expense for life. I have heard so many sound bites of this phony say that he will stand against the healthcare bill so long as it does not exclude funding for abortion. He was the lone vote that stood in the way of the bill being passed. I think one of the big stories in this debate is how you had a handful of sanctimonious Democrats stand on their soap boxes and state what principle it was that was preventing them from voting for the bill. In the end, they all caved in. They didn’t back down because their principle was upheld. No, they each had a price. From Mary Landru and Joe Lieberman, to Ben Nelson. The bill became a patchwork of payoffs that smacks in the face of constitutionality. If congress passes a bill like “Nationalized” healthcare, how is it that funding and benefits can be allotted state by state and district by district. This is an example of majority tyranny. This is the type of legislation our founders feared when forming our legislature with the Virginia compromise. Back in those days, allegiance lie more with one’s state than party. The Senate was created so that no one state would have total power to dominate policy. When George Washington warned us of the two party system, the same issue was feared. I really question how anyone could possibly re-elect this group of clowns. I picture nationalized healthcare funding and benefits to be similar to the AT&T coverage map, with the blue dots representing Democrat Districts.

Movie Monday: Inglorious Basterds

Suppose you are a movie buff and you have a hunger for rich, thick dialogue, well formed plot, situational dilemmas, and a bit of fantasy then you will thoroughly enjoy the movie, “Inglorious Basterds.” This is the kind of movie Directors and screenwriters go to get inspiration. Now, if you watch the trailer, you would think the movie was about Brad Pitt and a band of Jewish GI’s wreaking havoc in German occupied France. You would then find out that Brad Pitt’s group serves a much less important role to movie. Instead, this primary characters in this movie are the “Jewish hunter” colonel Landa, played brilliantly in his first English role by Christopher Waltz, and the Jewish girl that gets away from Landa in the beginning of the movie.
I don’t want to give away the plot, so I will only provide the highlights of what I enjoyed. I enjoyed any scene featuring Colonel Landa. An actor must work with a script and make it come to life. In Waltz’s case, he coupled a great script with brilliant acting. Inglorious Basterds is a movie about dialogue rich scenes. In fact, it opens with a wonderful exchange between a Frenchmen, hiding Jews under his floor, and Colonel Landa , looking for the Jews under the floor. The best scene in the movie involves 3 of the German speaking Basterds in German uniform meeting their contact in a basement bar. They must navigate the inquisitive Gestapo officer in a standoff that shows what would have happened in Reservoir Dogs if we were allowed to see what happened to the victims of the famous standoff.
Aside from the dialogue and scenes, there are other elements of film making that Quentin Tarantiino interweaves into his movie to provide for a full movie experience. Tarantino’s use of borrowed scrores from Enrico Morricone evokes images of great movies from the past. I was especially appreciative of the use of the score “Zulus” from the movie “Zulu Dawn” during a scene featuring a black projectionist about to set a cinema on fire. I am probably one of 5 people in the entire country that could recognize that score so it is nice to know I share that exclusivity with Tar]rantino. It was also cool to hear it because the movie “Zulu Dawn” is the origin of what made me and this blog ZULUBUFF. Back to the movie, Tarantino also did not shy away from the use of subtitles. I would say that most of the dialogue spoken in the movie was not English at all. Since I speak a tiny bit of German, hearing the German dialogue sent me back to my time in this country. If you don’t like subtitles, don’t see this movie, but I will say it is probably worth getting to like them.
This movie is a fantasy set within the context of real history, to a point. All of the key historical characters are real, and there really was a World War 2, but what makes Inglorious Basterds different from all other war fiction is how it takes on the mantle of fiction. A movie like Saving Private Ryan tries its best to be historical. Aside from the mission itself, the goal of the director was to make you feel as if the audience was watching a documentary. A movie like Kelly’s Heroes uses World War 2 as a back drop for a caper movie. It doesn’t alter history, instead the premise is that maybe at some point in the war at some point in the front lines, maybe a group of GI’s would have the opportunity to rob a Nazi bank. Inglorious Basterds rewrites history. It is done in such a way that you smile at how much you wish history really played out the way Tarantino writes it. That’s all I can say about that.
If you are hesitant to watch this movie because of the reputation Tarantino has, good or bad, you must see the movie. It plays on so many levels

The Lid Blown Off Of Anthropomorphic Climate Change: 100 Billion Dollar Grift

Obama continues his love affair with Denmark. He has been to this small country more than he has met with his general in Afghanistan. This trip is about the climate grift. The most significant thing to come out of this conference is the US pledge to provide 100 billion dollars to developing nations. If there was ever any policy that more clearly illustrates the true designs of the anthropomorphic climate change crowd. Basically, they have met so that these nations could stick their hands out to receive the economic redistribution veiled as money to help control climate change. There is nothing new about developing nations sticking their hands out to get western money. And there is nothing new about openly giving it to them (remember George Bush giving 50 billion to the AIDS crowd in Africa). What is refreshing is that some nations aren’t going to take it. Today, China, India, and Brazil have walked out of the conference. Well, that represents 33% of the world’s population, so as I see it, it is all for not.
Also, how many years are we going to hear the “time is running out mantra”? At what point do these experts, celebrities, and politicians get called out as false prophets. In the Christian church, if a person makes a prophesy that doesn’t come true, they are to be denounced as a false prophet, meaning that if their word was really from God, it would come true. In the anthropomorphic climate change crowd, science is supposed to be the God. Well, if you constantly make predictions about dire conditions that never come true, doesn’t that make your science false science and shouldn’t you be denounced. What if you have e-mails revealed that show that you acknowledge that you are a false prophet? But, in the age of Obama, war is peace, poverty is prosperity, cooling is warming, taking is giving, unemployment is work, death panels are compassion………………………

Pit Bulls: Killers of Innocence

Pit Bulls disgust me. I hope that nobody I hold in high regard owns a pit bull. Frankly, I think the two cancel each other out. Here are a few sad stories

Even in the UK, these savage animals hunt the young. What is really striking is the detailed description of the funeral and coffin, humanizing the savage attack.

This young toddler is one of the ones to make it through the horrific ordeal of being eaten by a beast.

A poor woman takes her BABY for a walk. Apparently a pit bull seizes the opportunity to escape from its PROFFESIONAL WALKER to sample some baby.

The trend with this story is that like democrats, pit bulls target babies and the elderly.

Fox and Friends:Worst Story Ever

I have not watched Fox in the morning for several weeks. Back when I did while I was running, I found it lower on content than it was during last indoor running season. This morning, Fox presented a news story so inconsequential I couldn't believe the anchors didn't walk off the show. Not only was the story so trivial, they had to drag it out by having a remote guest offer some insight. The story, you may ask, was about the theft of the 1985 Naval Academy Class flag from a bar. They showed a surveilance video of a man stealing the flag and then stuffing it down his pants. While the vidoe was playing, a 1985 navy alumni commented on the theft and his speculation on motive. Even I like to take a break from hard news, but this kind of junk reporting would be considered torture if shown to Gitmo detainees.
Now, what elements could have been changed that may have made it news worthy. Suppose the flag was stolen at gunpoint; that would cause one to take interest. Maybe the flag was stolen by terrorist and held ransom; that would cause on to take interest. What if it was taken down by the local or federal government;that would be news worthy. Since the story was merely about a bald dude taking it off the wall, it isn't worth your time, and barely worth your time reading this post. Shame on you Fox.

Movie Monday: City of Ember

I saw a brief "making of" video of City of Ember a year ago while flying home from Germany. I am a sucker for a post apocalyptic flick and stored this movie in my mental queue. Once I remembered it, I became reluctant to put it #1 in my Netflix queue because I saw that it was geared towards a younger. Since I am a sucker, I ended up watching it last week. I watch movies in 34 minute chunks while running on the tread mill. Normally, I look down at my time and count down the minutes, but while I was watching this movie, I lost track of time and ran long. The story is well framed with just enough background information for you to know why they are in the situation they are in. The pace of the movie is quick and suspenseful. As you watch the main characters, Doon and Lina, unravel the mystery to the City of Ember, you want to see how they will accomplish the conclusion you already know they will make. The costume and set design is excellent and serves the story well. Blue screens were used for some scenes, but you realize that much of this city set is of real construction. After I watched it, I deemed it kid friendly as there is no bad language or inappropriate material at all. Aside from the constant suspense, it is a movie for all ages. So, I had my 15 year old daughter watch the movie and she loved it. She immediately said it was her favorite all time movie, meaning it spans the genders. All this praise, yet it did so poorly at the box office.
The movie is based on a series of books and came out in 2008. It centers on two children, Lina and Doon, as they receive their life careers from a random drawing in a bag. They live in a city that exists fully underground. It was constructed to preserve humanity from the apocalypse that was taking place on the surface. Everything the emberites need, from food to water and electricy, was provided and constructed by the builders to sustain the population for 200 years. The goal was that the people would then emerge after everything has had a chance to clear up on the surface. The problem is that the mayor of the city was entrusted with a case that contained the instructions for the emberites departures that would only open after 200 years. Unfortunately, one of the mayors died before transferring the case to his successor and the knowledge of the case was lost.
We then flash forward to the present state of a crumbling ember, clearly beyond the year of occupation the city was designed for. The city is suffering from material shortages and black outs causing our protagonists to feel a sense of pending doom. After Lina discovers the missing case, she works with Doon to uncover the hidden secret and make their escape. This is a good family night movie if you get a chance to check it out.

When Did Alcohol Become So Important

I often have to endure the hysteria that takes place at work when free alcohol is offered during the last hour of work on special occasions. The strange thing is how these people get so giddy as if they have no ability to purchase or imbibe on their own. The hysteria extends even further. The mere mention of alcohol drives everyone to one-up each other on their consumption. It is as if the only purpose for work is to facilitate a trip to the bar or the liquor store. For the longest time, I labored under the assumption that alcohol hysteria was a modern creation, propped up by edgy television, music and commercials. I now believe my assumption has been incorrect. You see, as a child, I used to listen to the replay of old radio shows at bed time. My favorite was X-1 as I like sci-fi. Recently I have been listening to these shows through free podcasts. They are just as entertaining now as they were when I was younger. One thing that struck me initially was just how much of a role alcohol played in these shows. Over and over again, the characters get as giddy about alcohol 60 years ago as they do now. My point is not really about alcohol but about perception of the past. These shows aired just 60 or more years ago. The way people speak of the past compared to the present, you would believe that sin and depravity are an invention of the flower children and their children. Could it be that in a male dominated society, so much of what we call depravity now was considered commonplace then?

The other observation from listening to these shows is that in almost every episode of x-1 set in the future, it is a given that all governments will be totalitarian. Also, we would be making regular trips to the moon by the late 60s

Gold Hype: Why Should You Invest In Gold?

What is the deal with gold. You can’t listen to any conservative radio without hearing gold commercials. Glenn Beck is the biggest nut about gold. When I need personal financial advice, I listen to Dave Ramsey and he says gold is a horrible investment. First of all, according to Dave, if gold is at all time record levels, why would you invest at the high point. You have the smallest chance of a return on gold at this point. Second, and this is the most important part and I think why we took ourselves off the gold standard, what is gold? The gold hypers say that you need to buy gold so that when Armageddon comes, you will have gold to buy things while everyone else has paper. Well, if there is a total financial collapse, I would rather have paper currency as I can at least wipe my rear end with paper. Gold is no different than any other commodity. It is only worth what people are willing and able to pay or trade for it. Gold as a commodity for industry does very little. It, like paper currency, is only a symbol of services rendered. If there is a financial collapse, we will run on a barter system. I doubt gold would have any value unless it could be used to make a product that people would be willing to trade for. My amateur advice is to lay off the gold and pay off debt.

President Obama Drops in Polls:Will Still Be the Most Popular Kid

President Obama is certainly the “popular” kid in school. You can see it everywhere on the news, both domestically and internationally. He wins awards, is married to the hot chick, goes on all the talk shows, has his logo on everything, and he is the United States version of the class President. And now, with falling poll numbers below 50%, his likability is reflective of being the “popular” kid. But why would he be considered the popular kid if his popularity is below is 50%? If you look back at your school days and you weren’t THE popular kid, you will remember that the popular kid was not popular with the majority of kids. In fact, it was quite the opposite. The popular kid was popular because he had connections to the right groups, like the kids on the paper or year book staff, kids on the athletic team, and certain teachers. He was often arrogant and too good for most people. Similarly, because Obama is so popular with the media and academics, the illusion of his popularity has nothing to do with how most of Americans view him. He is arrogant, narcissistic, and looks down on most people. I wish his only power was to provide a new coke machine in the locker room.

Road Insanity Day R.I.D.

It happens every year and is covered and hyped by the media every year, just as a previous post of mine indicated. The first possible snowfall. I say possible because nobody can accurately predict a winter storms path or precipitaion amount (how do they manage climate change models). Once they hype has set in, about 5% of drivers react by thinking that the brake is also the gas pedal. I know it is 5% because if you happen to be able to break free of the long line of stalled drivers, you will find the single car with nobody in front of them. I encountered this twice this morning. It is bad enough to have to drive when the weather is treacherous, but to have to come to unexpected halts and slow downs because of the possibility of a delay later in the day is crazy. If you are one of these drivers, please stay off of Kansas City roads today.

Copenhagen Climate Change Debate:Armagedon

I was running on the treadmill watching CNN on Sunday. They had one of their eloquent sounding british journalists deliver the kind of story you see in the movies when the hopeful reporter profiles the heroes that will save the planet from the asteroid that is set to hit the earth. What she left out of her report is that their is now evidence that the asteroid will miss the earth by thousands of miles and that no human activity can actually affect the course of the asteroid. What responsible journalist would fail to put the perspective that #1, climate change is merely a concensus #2, that concensus is based on information that was knowingly skewed.
Now, this was all enough to make me sick to my stomach, but the part of the actual story that made me laugh out loud was when the reporter invoked the word debate. What debate is actually going to take place in Copenhagen. Are they going to allow parties that disagree with man-made climate change to present their findings. You know the answer is no.

Obama Pushes Healthcare and Climate Legislation: Football Analogy

When you consider all of the issues that are pressing our nations, it is important to put things into perspective. Let’s see, I would say the economy is the number 1 issue, followed closely by unemployment and the Wars on Iraq and Afghanistan. What is often missing from the list of top 10 issues is Nationalized Healthcare and Climate Change. So you must ask yourself why these two issues dominate all the energies of our current Congress and President. Why was launching an investigation into White House gate crashing more urgent than the Ft. Hood shooting. The best way to illustrate this point is to make a football analogy. The President and Congress focusing on healthcare and climate change would be like a football coach watching his punter warm up on the sideline while the other team, down by 2, has 1st and goal on the two yard line with 45 seconds on the clock and the defense is waiting to know what the package is. The only thing you can take from that is that the coach has some sick love affair with the punter and can’t take his eyes off of him. Similarly, Obama and the Democrats in Congress have a sick love affair with acquiring power. The two programs, healthcare and climate, are the biggest ways that they can acquire power. When you understand the motive, you understand why these issues are so pressing and you understand why you should have nothing to do with it.

Huckabee Hears a Horton.

Recently, our nation was saddened to learn of the gun slaying of 4 police officers as they sat in a restaurant. The sorrow quickly turned to outrage as we learned that this was not a random act of violence or even an act of terrorism. This was a planned and intentional act by a career criminal with a list of crimes that dates back to his teen years. The outrage stems from how does somebody with so many felonies walk the streets (I believe it is because we have too many drug criminals in jail). How did every part of the justice system fail for this act to be perpetrated. The lasting news impact of this crime will not be about the victims or criminal himself. So long as Mike Huckabee makes himself a presence in politics and a possible presidential candidate, we will hear of this crime, as we should. After all, turnabout is fair play. Remember in the 1988 election when George Bush Sr. was down in the polls, the famous Willie Horton adds started to play. Governor Mike Dukakis offered a furlough program that allowed Willie Horton out of jail temporarily, but long enough to kill. Arguably, the add clinched the election for Bush as Dukakis was made to look soft on crime. Well, our strong conservative governor, at least now that he is out of office and on Fox, commuted this killers sentence. The commutation was not enough to free him from jail, but it was enough to make him eligible for parole. I don’t blame Huckabee, but he was part of the failure that let this man free. If, as a teenager, this man was sentenced to 60 years in jail, I would think that the jury or judge must have had a good insight into the kind of criminal this man was. So, fast forward 2 years to the next presidential election. Do we really think that Huckabee will be able to live this one down. I think he won’t, and for good reason. We don’t need a person that finds their conservative bone after they are out of office.
Might I also add that the silence for conservatives and fox is hypocritically deafening. If this had been a democrat, I would hear about it every day for a week. Since it is a fellow traveller, NOTHING. With the momentum we have going, let's not waiver here conservatives

Why 30,000 Troops?

I, like so many others, have seen the countless world war 2 films in which the narcissistic Adolf Hitler stares at a map surrounded by his top generals. They make suggestions of tactics and troop movements to the Fuhrer. Once they are done with their presentation, Hitler counters their advice with that of his own, around things like invading Russia before the UK has been defeated, or bombing London, or his decisions around ignoring the invasion of Normandy. And since Hilter is the Fuhrer, it doesn’t matter what their advice is. Yesterday, our own commander-in-chief issued his own orders of battle. He suggested an increase of 30,000 US troops to Afghanistan, with a stated departure date of 2011. The reason I bring up the Hitler story is this, why only 30,000 troops? Where did this number come from? Obama’s own appointed general in the region said he needed 40,000 troops, so how is it that Obama has come up with a winning strategy with 75% of the troop strength requested. Did Obama and his community activists sit around a map and play war games on the computer. Was the military even involved in the decision. More than anything, I want to know how he made his decision on the actual troop level. I want him to say why he disagrees with his commander in the field on military strategy. I want to know why Obama thinks he has found the ability for civilian success where so many others have failed before him.

The Media's Repetitive Nature: Stories You Hear Over and Over Again

There are many repetitive stories that are not needed, yet they are reported year after year as if they are brand new. Here are a few of the stories:

1. Thanksgiving is the busiest travel time of the year.
2. There will be flight delays during busy travel times.
3. You should have emergency gear in your car, as well as 3 days worth of supplies for any ice or snow event.
4. The day after Thanksgiving, known as black Friday, is the busiest shopping day of the year.
5. Economist are always surprised at how different the economy is from what the predicted, such as jobless claims and consumer spending.
6. Anything any person does adversely affects the environment
7. There is a thing called the “flu” season and there are flu shots that will be in short supply.
8. The 4th of July is dangerous because of fireworks. There are so many safe and lame alternatives to fireworks, “funnerworks”, like clapping your hands or turning on and off the lights.
9. Each August, children will return to school and they will have a hard time waking up and not be in a good mood, especially when they have the local media in their bedrooms to watch them get dressed.
10. Trick-or-treating can be dangerous for many reasons. You should make sure mask eye holes are large enough to see and throw all of your candy away because even if it isn’t poisoned by a criminal, the sugar will kill you
11. Americans are overweight.
12. The sun is dangerous and you should used plenty of sunscreen.
13. Your neighbor is in dire need, pick a neighbor and he probably thinks the same about you.
14. The stock market will fluctuate based on everything other than the financial success of the individual firm.
15. The price of oil will fluctuate based on everything under the sun.

If you have any ideas, feel free to add them.

What if Healthcare Decisions Were Made Like the Budget.

A mother and her children waited in the waiting room of the Emergency room. The doctor stepped into the doorway, a grim look was on his face. “Mrs. Doe?”
Before he spoke the words, Mrs. Doe knew he had come out to speak to her. It was her husband that had been flown to the hospital via life flight following his accident on his way home from work. She had debated with herself on whether or not to bring the children because of this exact conversation. She didn’t know his exact condition except that it was critical. This may be the kids last chance to see their father. She stood up to face the doctor. “Yes. I’m Mrs. Doe.”
“I’m Dr. Obama, the chief of medicine at this Hospital. I know you have your children here, but I don’t know any other way to give you the news. Your husband has suffered substantial internal injuries from the impact. He is bleeding internally and his brain is at risk from not getting enough blood. I don’t know if he can make it. Now, I have an idea for saving him, but it will require your consent, which is why I am speaking to you now.”
“What is it. I’ll do anything.”
“Mrs. Doe, a crisis like this could cloud your judgment. I want to make sure you are allowed at least 30 seconds to compose yourself before you respond to my proposal. I also want you to know that I only plan on giving you some of the details of the procedure as you will not be capable of understanding its complexities, but you can trust me. “
Mrs. Doe was puzzled at the doctors statements, but he was right. This was a crisis and she needed to be prepared for anything. “What’s your plan doctor.”
“Mrs. Doe, his internal bleeding is causing a red blood cell count deficit. What I need to do is to jump start the red blood cell production. My plan is to insert a tube into his main artery and allow his blood to flow into an assortment of bags that will sit on a shelf and never flow back into his body.”
Mrs. Doe had no medical training, but she had watched Grey’s Anatomy on TV. “But doctor, won’t draining his blood cause a larger red blood cell deficit, eventually leading to his death.”
“Mrs. Doe, I know it seems contrary to logic. I’m sure you think I should go in and seal up the wound that is causing the internal bleeding and allow for his body to replenish itself.”
“Well, yes I would.”
“That is why I’m the chief of medicine and you are just a housewife. You aren’t seeing the big picture here. Next to your husband’s room is another patient, a Chinese man that is in need of a blood transfusion. Over the last several years, this man has given our hospital countless units of blood on loan. Now, he is calling in his loan. Unfortunately, our domestic red blood cells are not worth what they used to be, which is why we have to bleed your husband dry while his heart is still beating.”
“But he’ll die. Aren’t you sworn to save lives and not take them.”
“Exactly who have a sworn to Mrs. Doe? God or some ancient Greek philosopher? My oath is to medicine. You have 5 people in your family, and that’s a lot of blood, more than the average family unit. This crisis has allowed me to distribute the blood that your family hoards to those more in need.”
“But your giving it all to the Chinese man.”
“That Chinese man helped to get me elected to be the chief of medicine. I owe him”
Mrs. Doe was dumbfounded, she couldn’t believe that her husband was being bled dry right in front of her. The doctor didn’t even try to hide his intentions. She wanted to run into unit and rush her husband to another hospital, but which hospital would she go to. All of the other hospitals had been practicing medicine the way Dr. Obama was planning on doing now. Even though the patients were bleed to death, people still had to wait months to get in, and her husband didn’t have that kind of time.
While Mrs. Doe pondered her situation, a nurse entered the room to speak to the doctor. “Doctor Obama, we finished bleeding Mr. Doe. There’s not a drop left”
Mrs. Doe screamed, “What have you done. I never gave my consent.”
Dr. Obama tried to reassure her. “I’m sorry Mrs. Doe. Speaking to you was actually just a façade. I don’t need your consent. I, along with my surgical procedure czar, made the decision before I even came to speak to you. I hope you understand that we had to act or risk losing your husband.”
“Risk losing my husband. What are you talking about, you killed him.”
“That’s what makes this so hard.”
The nurse interjected. “I’m afraid it’s harder than you think doctor. Mr. Doe was not able to provide all of the blood we needed. The Chinese man needs more blood.”
“Mrs. Doe, I’m afraid this news is no good. We still have a crisis. May I ask what blood type your children are?”

Obama's Most Outrageous Statement: Debt Could Cause Recession

I glanced at a foxnews.com headline this morning and had to double check the address to make sure that I wasn't on comedy Central's website. Our beloved President. The President that has grown our national debt at the fastest and largest rate in history is now saying that US debt could fuel a 2nd recession(as if the 1st ever ended). My jaw just hit the floor. This is the same president that wants to grow the debt even further with his health care bill. This is the same president that wants to grow the debt even further with a second stimulus package. This is the same party that said TARP and Stimulus were about creating jobs, while both now race to create a jobs bill and a jobs summit. If Obama has had a real change of heart(i doubt it because it is really all about causing a crisis to gain power), I think we have the Chinese to thank. Yes, our friends, the communist Chinese were likely the ones that enlightened Obama on the virtues of the free market.
In a previous post, I examined the simple logic around the use of tax money, real or unreal, to grow the economy. The logic says that if the expenditure of some of the government treasury will stimulate the economy, then a larger expenditure will stimulate the economy more. Therefore, the sole purpose of the government should be to grow the economy. Well, you know that isn't how it works and Obama's logic is flawed. Now, Obama is stating actual logic. So let's take it all the way out. If some government debt is bad for the economy, then a lot of government debt is worse for the economy.

Why Does the Funny Bone Hurt so Much?

Why is it that when we bang part of our elbow on something and experience excruciating pain we wince and groan and say the phrase, “Ow, my funny bone.” I decided to do some research on the topic. The phrase is believed to be a pun on the Humerus bone. That is where the humor ends. The pain comes from the injuring of the largest unprotected nerve in the body that does not provide a sensory function. As I type this post, I am still wincing from my injury. The article said that the nerve extends to the small finger. How very descript as my arm tingles from elbow to pinky. According to Wikipedia:

“One method of injuring the nerve is to strike the medial epicondyle of the humerus from posteriorly, or inferiorly with the elbow flexed. The ulnar nerve is trapped between the bone and the overlying skin at this point.”

I remember injuring this nerve so bad about 14 years ago that I laid in the back of a truck bed in the fetal position for at least 15 minutes. I’m sure it was quite “funny” to my co-workers or any other passerby. My one question is to God. Lord, why did you leave this nerve exposed. I’m sure there is a perfect reason for it, but couldn’t we have been given a little protection.

Switch to Firefox from Explorer

I have now joined the ranks of those that have abandoned internet explorer in favor of firefox. For a long time, I have know that firefox is better than explorer. Out of habit, I have continued to plug away at explorer. Since I received a new computer, I have noticed the shortcomings of explorer in a more acute way. Firefox is much more capable of playing media without the need of constant downloads. I also like their functionality around downloads and being able to save your session when you close. If Firefox is this much better than explorer, I wonder how much better apple is to a windows pc.

Obama Takes the Enron Approach to Fix the Economy.

I was joking around with a couple of friends on using Obama’s strategy on the economy as a way to stimulate growth in his own line of business. I said that to bridge the gap between actual and projection, the larger division of the company should buy product from the smaller division as a means of stimulus. Sure, it would show up on the books as a positive for the one division and a negative on the other, but that doesn’t matter. Then, there should be a cash for clunkers type of program. The larger division will provide a substantial discount, that will be applied directly to the smaller one, to clients that want to trade in their old stock and purchase new. Very important here too is that the old stock must be destroyed, even if it is considered an asset that could be resold for profit. The result again would be a bump in the profit of the smaller division, how bet it temporary. Now, it is the 3rd quarter. Both of the previous measures have only resulted in temporary spikes with no long lasting impact. The small division had to hire about 5 people to deal with the new business spawned by the larger division. In the 3rd quarter, the smaller division had to let the 5 people go, plus one additional person that already existed. The larger division now gets to get credit for saving 6 jobs in the first half of the year. 4th quarter looks bleak again. All customers are still in a freeze, waiting to see what direction the larger division will go to support the smaller division. To add to the problem, investors in the larger division are starting to sell their stock and put their money in Gold because the solvency of the larger division has been compromised by bailing out the smaller division. The president of the company says that to solve the jobs issue at the company as a whole, he will hold a job’s summit. Customer’s will laugh and decide to move the rest of their money to gold or a Chinese company.
Anyway, isn’t Obama’s strategy the same as Enron. Didn’t Enron just bail itself out the same way as our government. Right now, you have all of Asia saying that they don’t want to end up like Enron Stockholders. If they sell, watch out.

Obama Bows Before World Leaders, Again

I’m not surprised by the bowing of Obama to Japan’s Emperor or to the Saudi King. What I am surprised by is the lack of other photographic instances of capturing Obama in the act of a bow. After all, Obama is required to bow in prayer to Allah 5 times a day. Really though, can you really believe this is our reality. If you voted for Obama, did you count on him laying down at the feet of every official he comes across. There is a great movie, Empire of the Sun, featuring a young Christian Bale as a 12 year old boy forced to live out World War 2 without his parents in a Japanese concentration camp for the British in China. You watch him grow up and become responsible, while at the same time, try to hang on to a part of his youth that was stolen. In one scene, the Japanese guards go to break out the windows of the hospital in retaliation for an air raid. Young Bale runs to the hospital and falls to the ground in front of the main guard, bowing and showing respect. The guard decides to spare the hospital. Later, the same situation occurs. This time, the guard looks at bale and smacks him in the face. The lesson here is that bowing only works for so long to appease the use of force.
Barrak Obama has been busy bowing to the nations that have us in a vulnerable position. So far, these nations have spared us. They spare us because when you bow, you let the other person know that you are their subordinate. Eventually, these nations are just going to smack Obama in the face. The unfortunate part for us is that when Obama gets smacked, we do to.

Why is Obama Soft On Muslims? He is one!

Since the Ft. Hood shooting, we have been hit with the kind of doublespeak only written about in Orwellian Novels. We are told by everyone in the administration that Hasan, the muslim shooter at Ft. Hood, acted out of everything but his muslim faith, from stress to insanity. Despite the unbelievable amount of evidence pointing to a terrorist attack, we are still told it was not so. The good thing here is that the public doesn’t buy it and the media is not trying to sell it as hard. The real question in all of this is why. Why is this administration adamant about not calling it an act of terror. The majority of pundits are saying it is because he doesn’t want to have to admit to an act of terror under his administration. I partly believe that, but take Obama’s actions as a whole over the last year, and I believe the evidence points to something else. Let’s look at the facts.

It is a fact that Obama wanted to pull out of Muslim Iraq as soon as possible and has always been against this war. It is a fact that Obama has wanted to close Gitmo, the detention facility holding many of the world’s most radical muslims. It is a fact that Obama is now bringing the most radical of these Muslims to New York, Kalid Shaq, Muhhamed who was the 9/11 mastermind. It is a fact that experts believe this will become a circus possibly resulting in the release of KSM because he will be afforded constitutional due process. It is a fact that despite all of Obama’s campaign promises, he is stalling on supporting the General he appointed in his efforts in Afghanistan against…radical Muslims. It is a fact that his administration has removed the verbiage of a war on terror against…radical Muslims. It is a fact that the Obama Administration has created an atmosphere of ultra protection for….radical Muslims in this country, an attitude that allowed Nidal Hasan to operate openly. It is a fact that Obama has turned his back on Israel l in favor of the Muslim position on settlements. Israel is the number one enemy of…..radical Muslims. It is a fact that Obama has opened up an unconditional dialogue with Iran, state sponsor of terror and home of….radical Muslims. It is a fact that Muslim leaders like Quadafi praised Obama in the UN, a first in history. It is a fact that one of Obamas first overseas trips was to the middle east where he proudly but erroneously declared the United States to be the largest…..Muslim country in the world. On this same trip, he apologized for the United States and spoke of his Muslim roots. It is a fact that since becoming President, there have been more references to his Muslim background than his born-again Christian faith. It is a fact that he was raised as a Muslim in the actual largest Muslim country in the world, Indonesia. It is a fact that he will not allow for the release of his actual birth certificate nor any of his college transcripts, both of which could point to non-citizenship and a Muslim faith.

I believe that Obama and Nidal Hasan have one thing in common, their faith causes them angst at the prospect of harming fellow Muslims, which is forbidden in the Qur’an. Yes, you heard me correctly. I believe that when you look at Obama as a whole over the last year, you will see that the evidence indicates that Barrak Hussein Obama is in fact a Muslim. Everything I listed in the previous paragraph is true. When you ask yourself, why, you can only come to one conclusion. You show me one instance where he has taken a hard line on radical Islam, and I may doubt my theory.

Lou Dobbs to Join Fox Business?

In a continuous drain of talent from cable news and networks, Lou Dobbs announced his retirement from CNN after 29 years with the network. Lou anchored CNN’s business programs and brought high ratings to the network. Those are the facts as we know them now. Any story you will read from the mainstream media will basically say that Lou was forced out because of his opposition to illegal immigration. They will say that Mexican groups put too much pressure on Lou and that his views had put him at odds with the network. They will also site all of the racist groups that advocate illegal immigration as saying how wonderful this will be for CNN. The reality as I see it is that Lou Dobbs has left the network as it continues to sink. Like MSNBC,ABC,CBS and NBC, CNN is a sinking titanic that is taking on too much water as it lists to the left. I believe that Lou has left CNN to join the new Fox Business Channel. I have nothing to base this on aside from my gut. John Stossell left ABC to join Fox Business, causing ABC list so far to the left that water is coming in through the smokestacks. He was the only counterweight for that network. I think Lou is going to join Dave Ramsey and John Stossell on Fox Business sometime in the next couple of months.

Five Dollar Foot Long Success Story

I read this story to day on yahoo about the success of the $5.00 foot long campaign and its untraditional origins. I love the $5.00 foot long and have eaten at subway more often as a result. They site the $5.00 price as the selling point, but to me it goes a little deeper. I like a deli sandwich, but to pay almost $4.00 for a 6 inch sub was too high for too little, so I rarely did it at subway. A subway footlong is just enough food for a full meal for me. Couple the size with the right price and I was sold. Read the article. It is a fun read in this down economy.

Why Sean Hannity is Dangerous To Conservatives

Here is why Sean Hannity is dangerous, Newt Gingrich, John McCain, Rudy Guliani, Trent Lott…. These regular guests on the Hannity show are given street credit from their appearances. But Hannity has so many democrat pundits on his show. The difference, when he has these conservative-light Republicans on his show, he treats them as friendlies. The listener is unable to see the contrast that is so clear when he has the democrat guest on. Why this is dangerous is that these men, different from RINOs, present a conservative façade, and may actually have conservative credentials, but they are proven to sell out their conservatives principles in favor of the party or other motives. Newt Gingrich is the primary offender. Not only did he favor the ultra liberal scozzafava in New York’s 23rd Congressional district, he has also been soft on climate change, partnering with Bill Clinton on this and other issues. In the words of the great Conservative-Light Presidents, George W. Bush, you are either with us or against us.

Update: As post script to this story, I recently heard a clip of Sean Hannity's interview with pageant winner, Carrie Prejan. It has come out recently that she filmed a provocative video of herself for her boyfriend at the time when she was 17, and he has now sold that video. I'm not going to throw her to the wolves here, but Sean was stumbling over himself to point out that there was no sex involved and that it somehow is not the moral equivelant to other similar tapes. Where he is destructive is by not upholding the standard. Sure she made a mistake and is not promoting the video, but don't excuse its existence.

Movie Monday:The Boondock Saints

Recently, the trailer for the sequel to the 2005 movie "the Boondock Saints" came out, "the Boondock Saints:All Saints Day". Having not watched the original, I was struck by how loyal a following the movie had, so I decided to give it a try. The movie centers around two irish catholic brothers who decide to exact vigilante justice as their godly calling, and the excentric FBI agent ,Paul Smecker, that pursues them. The highlight of the movie is most definitely the performance of Willem Dafoe. He is a not so closetted homosexual that has a 6th sense for how crime scenes transpire. The culmination of his performance occurs as he retells the scene of a massive shootout. This time, instead of just telling about it while the scene plays out, the director inserts Dafoe's character into the action, standing next to the character he is describing, mimicking the action. During the climax of the scene, a disheveled Dafoe has one of his own as he draws out his own firearm and discharges it into the air in ecstacy, as a conductor finishing a symphony. I watched the movie only for how it would frame Dafoe’s interpretation of the action he is now examining. Aside from Dafoe, the remainder of the movie was mildly entertaining, with much of the usual gun violence. I give it 3 out of 5 stars, but Dafoe gets 5 out 5.

Swine Flu was a Scam 33 Years Ago: Swine Flu Redux

I was surprised when my wife came across this video while researching whether or not she could take a medicine while pregnant. It appears that 33 years ago, the nation was bit by the swine flu bug. Much of the hysteria and propaganda that came out as a result mirrors what we currently face. As it turned out 33 years ago, people died or were adversely affected by the vaccinations. As it turned out, the power of the virus was greatly exaggerated. As it turns out, history repeats itself. Watch the video. You will be very much surprised that this information hasn’t made itself public again.

Ft. Hood Shooter Identity No Mystery

Like millions of others, I was horrified by the story of a lone gunmen assaulting unarmed GIs, killing 13 and wounding 30. The big story here is that this had the opportunity to be stopped, but out of political correctness and the ultra sensitivity we afford our enemies, it was not. The second I heard this story, I knew there were two possibilities, either a deranged gun men, possibly with PTSD, lashed out at federal stories with no other agenda than his own insanity or it was an Islamic extremist that was a part of the military enacted his own act of Jihad. The idea of the insane man really had no footing. I knew that it would eventually come out that the shooter had an Islamic agenda, and I’m sure I am not in the minority. We are so bent on playing nice with these people, that we allow them to become majors in our armed forces despite reports that this man had extreme positions advocating suicide bombings. According to fox

“At least six months ago, Hasan came to the attention of law enforcement officials because of Internet postings about suicide bombings and other threats, including posts that equated suicide bombers to soldiers who throw themselves on a grenade to save the lives of their comrades.”

Why wasn’t this man brought in? Why was he allowed to function so freely in the military? Listen, a person in the military operates under a different set of laws. By his oath, his statements glorifying suicide bombers, are not permissible. In the wake of this incident, we will now have to hear the “experts” dismiss the ideallogical motive of the shooter in favor of the insanity motive. Islamic fundamentalism is insane, but those that act on their muslim faith to kill people do so with full mental competency. Will the public revolt against the media’s attempt to apologize for this act of faith back fire the same as the Democrats move to Socialism, we shall see. In the meantime, please pray for the victims and victim’s families.

A Quarter Pound Angus Blog Post

Everything is Angus these days. From steakhouses to gas stations. Anngus is a breed of cow from Scotland in which the cow is naturally hornless. I have eaten an angus burger at the Hereford house. It was delicious. I have eaten the new 1/3 lb Angus Steakburger at McDonald’s, it is a redressed quarterpounder. This morning, I saw a sign for an angus cheeseburger at a gas station. I think I will pass. Now, to separate themselves, high end places usually use the term “black angus”, as if there is a magic sprinkling of flavor. Black Angus simply refers to the dominant breed of angus that are black. The other breed is the Red Angus. Is there a difference in the quality of meat? Probably not. It doesn’t sound as impressive to say “take a bite of our new 1/3 lb Red Angus Steakburger”. So, when everyone is angus, is angus special enough to have attention called to it. It reminds me of the Dr. Seuss story about the sneetches. Some sneetches were star bellied, which meant they had special rights. All the other sneetches wished they had stars upon thars. So when a machine came that allowed them to put the stars on their bellies, having star belly was not quite special anymore. The sneetches with star bellies had them removed so that they could become special again, and so things went until the sneetches had so much variety, a star was no longer enough to group special sneetches. Some had two and some had four, and some sneetches had stars on the britches. And so it will go with the Angus burger. The second I can pick one up at a Quick Trip, there is no reason to advertise the same at the Hereford house.

Obama Snubs Anniversary of Berlin Wall Collapse, Sits At Home and Mourns

The German Chancellor has invited Barrak Obama to Germany for the 20th anniversary of the collapse of the Berlin wall. Now, put aside the obvious jab at Obama that why would he celebrate something he probably didn’t support. Obama says he is too busy. I can respect this if it were true. Obama has made many globe trotting trips since becoming president. He was able to travel across the middle east and pronounce the US as being a muslim nation. He was able to jet off to Copenhagen to try and solicit the Olympics for his home town. He does not have time to make a similar trip to mark the end of the Iron Curtain. Where are this man’s international priorities?

Most Amazing Abortion Story Ever: God Breaks Through

Being a father of many children and having seen many sonograms, I have long felt that a mandatory screening should be required before a person has an abortion. With that aside, I shall continue. A Director of Planned Parenthood in Texas resigned recently. She actually left the building and joined the pro-lifers outside of the building. For 8 years, she escorted woman into the clinic to carry out the execution of their children. As the news story said, she began to become disatisfied with her job as she was under increasing pressure from management to increase the number of abortions in this lucritive industry. The turning point came, however, when she witnessed a baby "crumble" while being sucked out on a ultrasound machine. I just saw my 6th child's ultrasound on Friday, so this is even more personal. To think that this vulgar procedure is done in the millions is a sad statement on or society. How many ultrasounds do children in school get to see while they are discussing human development. Do they get to see a child with a head and a heart and limbs moving around. How can you choose to have an abortion after such a picture. Thank you Lord, that from the pits of abortion, you have broken through.

Movie Monday: Before the Devil Knows You're Dead

A movie about a perfect heist gone wrong is nothing new. The problem for this movie is that the heist involved the thiefs parents. The movies stars Phillip seymour hoffman as a man that operates on the illusion of control, something this actor does well. He plays Andy, the older brother to Ethan Hawke's Hank, the more incompetent in all ways, except for sleeping with Andy's wife, Marissa Tomei, brother. The movie begins with a passionate marital moment between Andy and his wife while on vacation in Brazil. The title is derived from an Irish prayer that says may you have 30 minutes in heaven before the devil knows you are dead. This alludes to the hell that is to follow in the movie.
The next scene begins the hell with Albert Finney, Hank and Andy's father, dropping off his wife at the family jewelry store. She is quickly confronted by a foul mouthed burglar when chaos ensues. As Andy awaits in the getaway car outside, the burglar smashes through the glass of the front door as he suffers from a gunshot from Andy's mother, who herself, is lying in a pool of her own blood.
Andy drives away in a panic cursing the name of his brother. The remainder of the movie retraces the events leading up to and following the robbery. What we see is that while all other characters are as they appear, Andy is unmasked as the most devious and foul of them all. He begins as this responsible executive that has a way of helping his brother out by hatching a plan to rob their parents. Andy's part is to fence the jewelry. As it unfolds, Andy has a bigger stake in the robbery. He has stolen money from his company and uses its petty cash as his heroine fund. As the movie unfolds, Andy throws caution to the wind and begins a kill crazy rampage to try to cover up all the lose ends. Just before he can kill his own brother, Andy is shot by a victim's sister, and hank runs away.
While Andy and Hank try to cover-up the crime that cost their mother her life, Albert Finney starts to put some of the pieces together and figures out that his oldest son planned the robbery. ****spoiler alert**** While Andy spends his day killing his loose ends, Finney is following his sons activity, with a gun packed for revenge. With his ailing son now in the hospital, Finney smother's his son to death with a pillow, sending Andy to his judgement.

Scozzafava Out. Hoffman In

For 10 months, we have been treated to a series of obama power grabs and the media frenzy that comes with each. Then the tea-party movements started, and then the healthcare town halls. The town-halls have been silenced by inactivity, crowd packing, and media complacency. Every indications seems to suggest that nationalized healthcare is at the forefront of everyone's hopes during this economic down turn in the midst of 2 wars. Of course, this really isn't the case.
All polls indicate conservatism is on the rise. I'm not talking about RINO conservatism or that junk Bush tried to pass off for his 8 miserable years as a set-up man for Obama. As most informed people know, the first test of tea-party conservatism was under way in New York's 23rd district. A three way race was underway between a democrat(i won't even give him press), the epitome of a RINO Dede Scozzafava, and a conservative in name and action, Dan Hoffman. The old guard Republicans, like Newt Gingrich, told us we should support Dede Scozzafava. It didn't matter if the person would always side with the Democrats. Party loyaly was the most important thing. This is the line we have been fed for a long time as to why conservatives should support the republican. As a result, we got George Bush and the Republican majority of 2000-2006. This led to the type of voter apathy that got Obama elected.
Now, with Dede Scozzafava down double digits in the polls to both the conservative and democrat nominee, she has stepped down from the race, allowing Hoffman to bid for her voters. The result will likely be the election of our first Obama era conservative to congress. Hopefully, this trend will continue. A friend of mine advocates to vote out the incumbent. I don't think we would do poorly to do so in 2010.

Obama Offers Contrived Salute: A page Right Out of The Clinton Manual

I believe that some time last week, Barrak Obama received a phone call from former president Bill Clinton. "Listen, barry, can I call you barry, look, the people think you are weak and out of touch with the military. That you hold them in disdain. I had the same problem myself. I have an idea for you. You see, back in 1994, the world celebrated the 50th anniversary of the D-Day invasion of France. Now, those Limbaugh types thought it was sad that on such a solemn day, our nation had a military hating President in the oval office. I got an idea. If I could get the help of the press to capture a contrived spontaneous moment, it would be great opportunity to show that I do hold the military in reverance. So, I took a walk along the beaches of Normandy. The idea was that I was supposed to be alone, with nobody watching. Nobody but the photographers that we tipped off. Suddenly, I would come across a pile of rocks, rocks that were put there the night before. Then, upon seeing the rocks, I made a makeshift cross on the beach to show just how moved I was. I don't know what was harder, drumming up the solemnity or having to make a cross. Barry, you need to have your D-day moment."
Obama took this advice to heart. Upon consulting his advisors, most of whom suggested that he hold a military parade of goose stepping acorn members along Pennsylvania Avenue, he decided to execute his own D-day plan. The plan, as photographed early this morning was to capture a solemn Obama saluting the fallen soldiers as their caskets are off loaded on Dover Air Force Base.
Do get me wrong. I'm quite certain that he does regret the loss. But I am quite certain it was done for a photo op.

Movie Monday: A Flash of Genius

Today I will be reviewing the movie “A Flash of Genius”. The movie is based on the true story of an inventor, Dr. Robert Kearns, and his battle against the big automotive companies for stealing his idea for intermittent wipers. As portrayed in the movie, Dr. Kearns was a family man with a wife and 6 children. He was a college professor teaching engineering. On the way home from church one day, he was struck with his “flash of genius” to pattern a wiper after the blink of a human eye. He then set about inventing and patenting the “blinking eye” wiper system. While in negotiations to manufacture the device for Ford, Ford suddenly broke off negotiations after they had received a working model from a reluctant Dr. Kearns. What follows is Dr. Kearns untiring pursuit of justice and recognition for the invention.
As a family man of soon to be 6 children myself, I see his pursuit as coming at too high of a price. He thought it was his duty to protect all inventors from being bullied by large firms. If he let Ford get away with it, there would be no stopping them. Dr. Kearns lost his wife, his job, and was temporarily institutionalized as a result of his efforts. He lost time with his children. He turned down many offers at settlement just for the court to say that Ford had done wrong. I think he allowed his pride to surpass justice in his endeavors. He even represented himself at his trial. It was his pride more than anything else that drove him. And so, in 1990, when he was 63 years old, he finally won his court battle with Ford and was awarded 10 million dollars. He would later go on to when an additional 18 million from Chrysler. So, when it was all said and done, what did he get? He got recognition and a pile of money that I doubt he was able to spend before he died in 2005. What he lost were his wife and years with his children, something his money and recognition will never be able to buy.

No H1N1 Vaccine for First Family

As of now, it still appears that none of the First Family have received the vaccine. Just as with all of the Presidents plans, this one also appears to be an unfullfilled promise. In a time of national emergency, wouldn't it stand to reason that Obama would get his family taken care of. Above all people, he should take care of himself as a matter of national security.

Obama Declares State Of Emergency: Martial Law Will Be Next

Back in April, I predicted that Obama would use the swine flu as an excuse to declare Martial Law. As with all of my predictions of Obama, it looks like this one too will come true. For 6 months, this administration has been shoving a disease that isn't as potent as seasonal flu down our throats. Basically, they have been creating the fear that is causing people to run to clinics when it hasn't been needed, so that the healthcare system can become "strained" as an excuse to declare an emergency. Declaring an Emergency is the first step in declaring martial law. When Obama does declare martial law, it will not be titled as such. He will have some very eloquent or soothing word to usher in his full blown dictatorship. While this emergency is declared, he is currently working on other fronts to fight his war by censoring media. As I stated back in April, the real focus of this disease is not about its lethality. Quite the contrary. The less lethal but communicable the better. It is about power. I predict also that once his power is in place, the only swine in existence will be Obama

Pay Czar Slashes Pay of Top Executives

I happen to think that the pay czar or any other federal official has total authority to slash the pay of any worker for any company that received a bailout. I think it is important that this happen, not becuase I believe there is justice served, but so that all companies will see what comes with receiving government money. I hope Obama doesn't just slash pay. I hope he takes their homes, cars, jewelry, jets, clothes, bikes... I hope they take it all and burn it or give it to Katrina victims. The only thing Obama is good at is showing a contrast between a fascist dictatorship and the free country we once were (sometime before Bush 1). So, don't go crying capitalism when the pay is cut for these guys because the second they took the money, they gave up the free market.

Pit bull Kills California Toddler

Pit bulls and life do not mix. If you are the owner of a pit bull, you must eliminate your beast by any means at your disposal. By default, all pit bulls are named murphy as murphy's law will apply to your dog. Most recently, a toddler was attacked and killed in california while under the quasi supervision of a baby sitter. Deaths like these rank up there with a child murder because the idea of a young child being killed by an animal is horrible. How many kids must die before people wake up and smell the blood on the mouths of these cursed beasts.

Missing Florida Girl Especially Hard on Family

The story of a child missing and then turning up dead is something that tears me up. I have young children, so it personalizes the story to me. The current story of a missing girl, which appears they may have found her body is upsetting also for the circumstances surrounding the survivors. First of all, the missing girl has a twin brother. Having twins, I understand the deep bond that exist from birth. I would hate for my boys to be apart from each other for any length of time, much less the rest of their lives. Second of all, the girls older sister will have to deal with a life of what-ifs. Could she have handled the dispute her sister was having in a way that wouldn't have caused her to walk ahead? Should she have stayed with her sister? My prayers go with her. I encourage you to do the same.

Obama Launches War on Fox News: The End of Free Speech is Near

I am beside myself with fear for what I see is really happening right before my eyes and what our future may hold. Recently, Several White House officials have began attacking the FOX news channel for what it calls its “opinionated” coverage of the Obama administration. For anyone that has ever watched any news coverage of the Bush administration, they would realize how ridiculous this claim is. We know by the admission of Anita Dunn that the Obama administration seeks to control its coverage in the media. The fact that they cannot control FOX’s coverage is the only real issue here. Be intellectually honest with yourself, why are you not hearing about the open communists in the Obama administration on CNN,NBC,ABC,CBS, or MSNBC. Why did they not cover the ACORN scandal? Why have they gone soft on Afghanistan and unemployment? Why do they appear to be complicit with Obama policies.
But here is where the story gets scary, according to fox, the white house is now engaged in a campaign to lobby the other news agencies to exclude FOX from the White House pool covering Obama. Re-read that sentence and see if its implications sink in. A sitting President of The United States of America, where the freedom of the press is guaranteed, is engaging in a blackout of a news agency, whose only crime is to be critical of the President. If you look at the news like the UN, this is even scarier. The other news agencies represent the third world and FOX is the United States. More than anything they want to see the Big one fail, so of course they will go along with Obama. The penalty for these news agencies for failure to comply is to also become black-listed.
This is the stuff of fiction, but it is true. Usually we only see this kind of behavior out of dictators like Hugo Chavez, but this our President whose duty it is to uphold the constitution.
I think the difference to me between this story and any other story regarding our nations march to fascism is the magnitude of its reach. My heart has genuinely broke for our nation and the nation I will leave to my children. What will it take to stop this insanity.
from foxnews.com:
The White House also appeared to stand by its effort to urge other networks to isolate and alienate the channel. Gibbs said Tuesday that it's up to the White House Correspondents Association to decide whether Fox News should continue to be part of the White House pool which covers President Obama.
"I'm not going to delineate for the White House Correspondents Association how the pool is conducted. That's not my job," he said.

Talk Radio's Effect on the Blogosphere

About 3 months ago, I took a new position at work. My previous position involved lots of meetings and questions and very little time at my desk. My new position keeps me tied to my computer all day. As a result, the amount of talk radio that I listen to has increased by 100%. I used to only listen to talk radio in my car or a rare opportunity of continuous desk work. Now it is an overdose. The effect of this exposure to talk radio has been a decrease in the amount of blog posts I put out. At best, I put out one post a day. These posts reflected my views on the news of the day and the direction of the nation. I was oblivious to whether or not my views or topics were being covered by talk radio. Now, the wind has been taken out of my blogging sails. Anything that I would blog about is something I end up hearing already covered on talk radio. This has also highlighted a lack of diversity in subject matter. All I ever want to blog about is Socialism and Obama policies, which are often one and the same, but talk radio has the market cornered. If you are a loyal reader, please offer your suggestions for subjects to cover. Some of my special passions are, movies, history, science, childbirth, running, dave ramsey. Maybe that is enough. I could do Movie Monday, Childbirth Tuesday, Ramsey Wednesday, Running Thursday, Science and History Friday.

The Most Divisive Phrase in America: The First __ to ___

The most divisive phrase currently used in American Culture is “the first (fill in gender/ethnicity) to (fill in accomplishment). Nothing declares differences more than for a person to declare themselves as the first gender/ethnicity to achieve something. This phrase works on so many levels I don’t even know if I can write about them all. For the person using the phrase, it calls out that they consider themselves different enough from others that the fact that they too have made an accomplishment that somebody already achieved should be applauded. The phase must be employed skillfully for the user or risk highlighting its futility. For example, if DNA has already been discovered, would a woman or ethnicity then also attempt to discover DNA, thus proclaiming themselves as the first (blank) to have discovered DNA. DNA is DNA and doesn’t need to be discovered multiple times. Instead, the phrase is used for things like sports or politics. To give out such honors says that for everything, there will be secondary accolades reserved for a woman or non-caucasian ethnicity. The message then is that it is realized that you are at a disadvantage based solely on your appearance or chromosomes, and will therefore have the opportunity to receive secondary first place honors. If I were the recipient of such an honor, I would ask that it be stricken from the records.
I happen to believe that, to borrow from an Obama praise song, “red and yellow, black and white, they are equal in his sight”, God did not intend on us to subdivide ourselves in such a way. We are created by God and have a variety of appearances to highlight his glory and diversity. I do not believe that God will have recognition for the first black man to be Saved, or the first Woman to have a prophetic gift, or the first Asian to come to heaven. If the phrase is so divisive, why would it be used and accepted. This phrase is used to propagate the race industry that is instrumental in the power of the left. The same people that scream racism are the first people to point out that a minority just accomplished something that had already been accomplished. My goal is to raise my children to see color as only something designed by God in the same way flowers have many colors. Ultimately, the phrase is tied to the dollars signs generated from an outdated race industry in America that pays the salaries of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, and the ACLU. Sadly, while I may do my best to make my children color blind in love, the race industry will do its best to divide, a living tower of babel.

Stimulus Package Saves Jobs

I would like to declare that as a result of my own stimulus package, I have saved well over 3,000,000 jobs in the month of October. I have purchased groceries from Costco, Walmart, and Aldi. I purchased a computer power cord from Provantage. I paid my mortgage. I have paid KCP&L and MGE for my electricity and Gas, I paid AT&T for my home phone and T-Mobile for my cell plan. I paid Time Warner Cable for my internet. I paid a storage company. I have made my monthly payments to Netflix and my community center. I have purchased gas, sodas, and hotdogs from Quicktrip. I have purchased meals from McDonald’s, Jose Peppers, Chipolte, Longboards, Little Ceasar’s, Taco Bell, Dairy Queen, and Thai Place. I have paid for my car and home insurance. I have also paid taxes to the city, county, state and federal governments. Now, I realize that a “saved” job is not a real statistic that can be quantified, so I will say that without my money, each of these firms would have had to fire people. My 3 million jobs far exceeds the 30,000 jobs “saved” through the stimulus package. Now that I have saved all of these jobs, do I get to run these companies as Obama believes. Let’s get real here. What really saves jobs is real spending and not stimulus.

Hollywood's Africa:The Fruit of the Welfare State

I just finished watching the movie, The Constant Gardener, in which a British diplomat’s wife is murdered while they are stationed in Kenya as she uncovers a pharmaceutical company’s use of AIDS patients as live guinea pigs to test a tuberculosis drug. He picks up where she left off, only to be murdered himself, but not before sending the critical evidence away that will reveal the involvement of government officials. The movie is set in both Kenya and the Sudan and displays a very grim reality that is faced by Africans. Movies like this, Hotel Rwanda, Blood Diamond, Black Hawk Down, and the Last King of Scotland show a continent of death and no hope. These movies portray a continent in which you face three fates, death by starvation, death by disease, or death through war. An Africans life prior to this end is lived out in some sort of direct or indirect service to a white person as a diamond miner, aide worker, or in tourism. All of these vocations boil down to a kind of situational slavery. Your only other option is to join one of the lawless gangs of AK-47 wielding bandits that terrorize the other people. From Hollywood, Africa looks to be a hell on earth.
I’m not going to dispute that any of this may be the reality in Africa. I rarely hear reports to the contrary. I’m also not going to dispute the effect of European colonization on creating this climate of chaos in Africa. I will say that it is the welfare state that has been created by the west that facilitates this existence, (if one group of people, the woman and children, are recipients of aide, the other group of people, the men, spend their time stealing the aide instead of producing something) but that is not my point. My point is that if this really is the dominant reality, how can the population of Africa increase or maintain its level. It would stand to reason that if you starve, are shot, or die of disease, then your life expectancy is diminished. Somehow kids are born, grow up, and have kids themselves in ways that increase the population. I have a general curiosity on how the rest of non-hollywood Africa does it. What is their story. If this really is the reality in Africa, why would we not recognize that a continent on welfare is what keeps this going. Why would we also not recognize that a similar welfare state in our own country will produce similar results.

Obama Wins Nobel Prize: Bill Clinton Most Jealous Man in the World

Bill Clinton has just turned over in his grave of irrelevance. He so wanted to be loved and adored by the world and nothing says that more than a nobel prize. Clinton thought he had the perfect formula, diminish America’s global power. Unfortunately, he was missing the key ingredient, one that Jimmy Carter achieved. In order for an American to win the Nobel Peace Prize, an American President, current or former, must denounce Isreal. Obama did so in Cairo, Turkey, but now more importantly, in the UN. I believe that Obama could have launched a nuclear strike against Samoa and still won the Nobel Peace Prize so long as he denounced Israel and put distance between the US and our “former” ally. Of course, reading Chavez’ book and rubbing elbows with fellow dictators doesn’t hurt, the snubbing of Jews is what is more appealing to the Nobel group. Peace to the world does mean a weak America, but it also must be an America that doesn’t support Israel.

Will Obama take the H1N1 Vaccine?

The current buzz is over the Swine flu (h1n1) and its related vaccination. The government is pushing this vaccine as if it also contained a cure for cancer. There are PSA’s and countless news articles. In New York, they are requiring health employees to become vaccinated as “a term of their employment”. I saw an interview with one such worker opposed to the vaccination. She said that to get the vaccine, you must sign an informed consent. She doesn’t want to sign the document because she doesn’t agree. Doesn’t that just epitomize government. Require you to sign your “consent” while you really have no other choice. It is like in school when you are required to do volunteer work to graduate. It isn’t volunteering if it is mandatory. I think it is more like involuntary servitude. Unlike the healthcare worker, the child is required to attend school. They have no choice in the matter, but, like the vaccine, it is all for the good of the community.
If h1n1 poses such a big threat, I think that all key members of government should be vaccinated. They should all sit in a row on the white house lawn while cameras role. I’m talking about Obama, Biden, Pelosi, Reid, and all cabinet members, especially Kathleen Sebelius. We might as well vaccinate William Ayers and David Axelrod since they run the shadow government. I happen to fall in the area of people that have an adverse reaction to the flu vaccine, so I will be opting out. But if it were a possibility and it really was such an urgent risk, I would like to see our government vaccinated first.

Our Olympic Embarrassment: Obama's Gold Medal Failure

I certainly will not stand alone in my critique of our bid to bring the Olympics to Chicago, nor will my opinion be unique. I must, however, offer my thoughts on this most embarrassing misadventure of our President and the guilty pleasure I get from his failure. Like Rush Limbaugh, I hope to see Obama fail. Obama’s failure means that a fascist agenda of a megalomaniac does not get advanced. Right now, Obama is failing in every endeavor he has attempted, from TARP to healthcare, from Afghanistan to his Olympic bid. For opponents to Obama like myself, we have been saying that everything this man does is about him and him alone. It is about his attempt to become a dictator through increasing his power and promoting his image. He has increased his power through TARP, the take-over of the auto-industry and banking, and his attempt at environmental and healthcare policy. He has promoted his image, how be it unsuccessful, through countless television interviews and late-night show appearances, unprecedented addresses to Congress and school children, and now his failed bid for the Olympics. What we have seen in the last 45 days is a backlash against Obama and his inability to recognize the tide has turned against him, both foreign and domestic. I am happy to surf on the top of the tide of opposition. As a side note, as an example of why Obama failure is good for America, if Obama had succeeded in bringing the Olympics to Chicago, the result would be an expenditure in infrastructure that exceeds the possible income. Not to mention all the olympic venues that would sit to rot in the years after the Olympics.

Zune HD fall short of the I-touch

In an attempt to compete with the Apple I-touch, Microsoft has released the touch screen Zune HD. I liken it to a pinto competing with a Porsche. This is especially sad for me as I am a Zune owner and had high hopes and anticipation for the new Zune HD. Reading specs online did nothing for giving the full grasp of what this product would really be like. When I went to walmart on the 15th of September to see the actual model, I was crushed. For the vast majority of people that don’t have a zune, imagine the Nano being made into a flat touch screen. Then, try to imagine using that limited real estate to view videos and web pages. Chances are, if you wanted a device for web browsing and videos, you would have chosen the i-touch. Being a Zune owner, I already had an inferiority complex. The Zune HD was Zune’s chance to show that they could match or exceed an apple product. Sadly, we were let down. I will be pinching my pennies now so that I can afford the 32 or 64 touch and leave my beloved Zune behind.

Obama Youth Taught New Anthem

For any naysayer that doubted the intent of indoctrination when Obama spoke to the public schools,
we now have video of young elementary school children being taught to sing Obama praises
. These children are too young to discern such indoctrination. This goes beyond outrage for me. I am saddened for these kids and families, sweet innocent children not knowing that they are being brain-washed. Is this what you send your kids to school for. Is this what your tax money is supposed to fund. This is seriously getting more and more frightening and the complacency of the media is the worst. These are interestig times.

Obama's Address to the UN: US a Nation of Shame.

Obama’s address to the UN yesterday was an embarrassment to our nation. The only thing Obama didn't blame the United States for was death by natural causes, but I think that was only because he ran out of time. Instead of projecting the United States as a nation of power, freedom, and opportunity, we were cast as the global villain. This is nothing new when it comes to the UN. To most of the nations, we are the villain. What was different is that with Obama as our leader, we agreed with these nations and apologized for being too great. Once again, even though I know this man is a fascist crackpot, I still can’t believe he that he would tear down our country to such a wide audience. When a person puts down their “team”, it is usually because they want to join another team. During the election, when Obama wouldn’t wear a lapel pin, it became an issue that was put down as making too much out of nothing. This simple act was our first and biggest clue to the shame this man feels for his nation. The nation ignored it, and now we have Obama apologizing to Quadafi. When the leader of Libya thinks you are a good president, we know we are in trouble. Obama’s speech was an appeal to the nations of the world for his own popularity at the cost of our nations dignity. He didn’t try to make our country popular, he tried to make himself more popular and he succeeded. Who is Obama appealing to for popularity? With a few exceptions, most nations of the world are run by third world dictators. This is the crowd Obama wants to run in. It is like the smart kid in school with all the promise of a bright future, throwing it all away to hang out with the drop outs. All I can say is that we only have 3 years 3 months left of this one term wanna be dictator.

Obama Newspeak

War is Peace, slavery is freedom, ignorance is truth... and now tax is keep. If I were watching an episode of the simpsons, the orwellian satire of the Obama administration would be enough to keep me in stitches. Unfortunately for the nation, Obama is not a satire, but our real president. While he scolds the media for misreporting his healthcare reform bill, he engages in his new form of newspeak. First came his lie that the bill didn't cover illegals when it did. Now, when he tells the public via his round of big brother interviews that there is no tax involved in his plan, it comes out that the baucus bill includes explicit tax language. This is nothing surprising if you really start to understand that this man really walks the big brother walk. It is no longer funny. He flat out lies to you and then scolds you for doubting him. The other brewing newspeak is defeat is victory. He will play that one out with the war in afghanistan. How will this play out. Our teacher's have aleady been laying the ground work for believing two plus two is five through outcome based education. Will this all end as the opposition faces their room 101. Will I too end up loving big brother.
